Lead should last a lifetime is it does not then you may find it is down to poor workmanship and lack of knowledge I.E. not providing sufficient laps to allow for thermal expansion.
Lead is one of the longest lasting roofing and flashing material, while it may not be the cheapest it will outperform any other product in the market as it has been time tested.
